It was wonderful having Van guide me through carving my own bowl from a colorful stump we found on a hike through the forest while we reflected. It falls on the carpenter to envision potential from raw material. There is grace in creating something beautiful, and shaping it towards a design. It's a communion between nature, man, and the divine.
